For best results — apply to dry hair

Is this a matte paste or a matte clay — what is the difference?

Mon Platin Black Caviar Matte Hair Paste is a wax-paste, not a clay. Both give a matte finish, but this paste uses a resin-and-wax system (Glyceryl Rosinate, Beeswax, Paraffin) for hold rather than kaolin or bentonite clay. The result is a slightly smoother, more pliable product compared to a dry, crumblier clay. Both deliver zero shine.

Does this paste add volume or just hold?

Both. The paste's thick, wax-based texture lifts and separates hair as you work it through, giving a fuller, thicker-looking style. This is a cosmetic effect from the product's body — it is not a biological change to the hair fibre.

Can I use it on damp hair?

The recommended application is on dry hair. On damp hair the hold softens and the matte finish may be less defined. For a firm hold and a clean matte look, apply after your hair is fully dry.
