How the scent develops
The opening is warm rather than clean-citrus. Bay Rum sits alongside orange and bergamot, which add the brightness — and Bay Rum is a fragrance material of bay leaf with rum, not plain rum. The heart then turns green and spiced: galbanum, white thyme and coriander keep the sweetness from taking over. What stays is the base, and it is the part people recognise the fragrance by — honeyed tobacco, frankincense, benzoin and vanilla, sweet and resinous.
Longevity and projection are two different things
Longevity is how long the scent lasts on your skin. Projection is how far it carries away from you. A fragrance can be strong on one and modest on the other, and both are personal: skin type, the weather on the day and the number of sprays all change what you get.
